our values
At Oxford Baptist Church, our core values are rooted in the conviction that Strong Faith and Strong Family are essential to a thriving church and a transformed community. We are committed to cultivating a deep, resilient faith through biblical teaching, Spirit-led worship, prayer, and discipleship. At the same time, we believe the family—whether biological, spiritual, or church-wide—is God’s primary context for forming character, passing on faith, and living out the gospel. We value authentic relationships, generational unity, and the intentional investment of truth and grace across every season of life. Everything we do—whether in worship, outreach, or service—is designed to build up both faith and family for the glory of God.
what we believe
The Bible
We believe the Bible is the divinely inspired Word of God, written by human authors under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. In its original form, it is completely true and without error or contradiction. It stands as the highest authority for all matters of faith, doctrine, and how we are called to live.
Scripture: 2 Peter 1:20–21; Mark 13:31; John 8:31, 20:31; Acts 20:32
God the Father
We believe in God the Father, the Creator of everything. He is perfectly holy, all-knowing—past, present, and future—and sovereign over all things. He is infinitely good and loving, working all things for His glory and the good of His people. His grace was revealed most clearly in sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for us.
Scripture: Luke 10:21; Matthew 23:9; John 3:16, 6:27; Romans 1:7; 1 Timothy 1:1–2; 2:5–6; 1 Peter 1:3; Revelation 1:6
God the Son – Jesus Christ
We believe in Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, who has always existed with the Father and the Holy Spirit. Through the virgin birth and by the power of the Holy Spirit, He became fully human while remaining fully God. He lived a sinless life, taught truth, performed miracles, died as an atoning sacrifice for sin, rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and will return one day in glory and power.
Scripture: Matthew 1:18–25; Luke 1:26–38; John 1:1, 20:28; Romans 9:5; 2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Peter 2:21–23; John 20:30–31; Matthew 20:28; Ephesians 1:4; Acts 1:11; Romans 5:6–8; 6:9–10; Hebrews 7:25; 9:28; 1 Timothy 3:16
God the Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. He convicts the world of sin and transforms all who believe, shaping them to reflect the character of Christ. He indwells believers from the moment of faith, empowering, gifting, comforting, and interceding for them throughout their spiritual journey.
Scripture: John 14:16–17, 26; 15:26–27; 16:9–14; Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 3:16; 6:19; Galatians 5:22–26
The Trinity
We believe in one eternal God who exists in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal in nature and glory but fulfill different roles in creation, redemption, and sanctification.
Scripture: Genesis 1:26; Matthew 28:19–20; 3:16–17; 2 Corinthians 13:14
The Church
We believe in the global body of Christ—the universal church—comprising all who have placed their faith in Jesus. Christ is the head of this body. God has chosen the church to be His primary means of bringing the Gospel to the world. Locally, churches express their unity through shared faith, baptism, fellowship, service, and disciple-making.
Scripture: Ephesians 2:19; 1 Corinthians 12:12–20; Acts 1:8; Ephesians 5:19–21; Acts 2:42; Hebrews 10:23–25
Salvation
We believe that humans were created in God’s image but fell into sin, resulting in spiritual, physical, and eternal death—separation from God. All people are born with a sinful nature and choose sin, making them incapable of earning salvation. Redemption comes only through God’s grace by faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. True faith leads to repentance and a transformed life. The believer is justified by faith, regenerated by the Spirit, and given eternal life. We believe those truly saved are secure in Christ and will never be condemned.
Scripture: Romans 9:22; 2 Thessalonians 1:9; Revelation 19:3; 20:10, 14–15; 21:18; Psalm 51:7; James 1:14; Romans 3:19; Proverbs 28:13; 1 John 1:9; John 3:16; John 1:13; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Romans 8:1
The Ordinances
We believe that Jesus established two ordinances for the local church: baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Baptism is for believers and should be by immersion in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Lord’s Supper is a memorial of Christ’s sacrifice and a celebration of His grace. Both ordinances are to be practiced until Christ returns.
Scripture: Matthew 28:18–20; Romans 6:3–5; 1 Corinthians 11:23–26
The Last Things
We believe in the future, personal return of Jesus Christ. At His coming, believers will experience bodily resurrection and be united with Him forever.
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 15:50–58; 1 Thessalonians 4:13–17; Acts 1:10–11; Matthew 25:31–46
